More often than not, I find that when buildings are under construction they are more interesting than when they are complete. There is an energy in the emerging architecture that is often lost when construction ends. Field Report attempts to capture that energy by freezing moments in time to expose the beauty of the unfinished structure permanently. All six of my paintings are based directly on photographs I took Hyatt Regency during site visits throughout the construction period.
Robin Ault, AIA, LEED AP, is a Principal and the Denver Design Director at the Architecture and Planning firm Perkins and Will. Robin’s portfolio covers the full range of architecture, from large, highly complex airports to small, beautifully-crafted, single-family homes. Always focused on the human experience, his projects are characterized by the interesting use of tactile materials and sculptural forms that capture and enhance the light, stimulating multiple senses simultaneously. Mindful of the context in which he is working, his projects frequently make reference to the unique architectural heritage of the place.
In addition to being a talented architect, Robin is also an accomplished artist whose contemporary paintings are regularly exhibited in Denver. Outside the office, Robin enjoys spending time with his family, skiing in the Rocky Mountains, and painting. He is a regular critic at the University of Colorado, serving on student design reviews. He is a design review board member for the Fitzsimmons Redevelopment Authority and the Lowry Community Master Association.
