The Climbers start their voyage at the 8 ½' level of the 25'h x 34'w limestone-faced wall on the first floor lounge area at The Hyatt Regency. Six tangerine colored ropes, one used by each figure in their climb, converge at a single point at the top of the wall. The installation represents people coming together at a convention to work towards a common goal.

Bill Starke is a Colorado artist whose extensive anatomical education from Zahourek Systems plays a vital role in the development of his work and choice of subject matter. His ability to understand and recreate the complexity of figures, commonly relating to the human condition, is haunting. His other significant mentors are artist Ned Jacob and MSU printmaking instructor Jim Westergard.

Starke’s artwork has been exhibited in multiple exhibitions throughout Colorado including the Denver Art Museum, Denver Museum of Nature & Science, the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, and notably Salon d’Arts where he was selected as Art & Antiques Magazine Emerging Artist of the Year. His sculpture, Trojan Horse III, was awarded the Pietro Montana Memorial Award for Sculpture at the 85th Annual Exhibition of the National Sculpture Society in New York City.

Bill Starke Sculpture is represented by prestigious galleries nationwide and can be found in private collections across the globe.

" The Climbers sculpture is my visual metaphor representing the spirit of the men and women who convene in this spectacular space to work side-by-side to accomplish a common goal. It is dedicated to the adventurers and explorers who come from around the world to meet at this center to learn and create. "
